Alomnik on the way to the forest abode was caught by night, and he, not seeing the way, slipped into the old well and almost fell to the bottom. Fortunately, when falling, he managed to cling to the root of a tree sticking out of the wall. Early in the morning, a sadhu (ascetic) walked near the well, singing songs for the glory of the Lord. The pilgrim called him for help, and he, looking down and seeing the desperate situation of the poor fellow, lowered a strong rope into the well to pull him out. And the pilgrim was overwhelmed: he could not dare to let go of the root in order to grab onto the rope.
A person should only hold on to the root until a rope appears from above. When God is realized, all karma will be dropped.
